Rocky road is a favourite ice cream flavour of many people worldwide. Who wouldnt like tons of chocolate and nuts and marshmallows ? I being a lover of chocolates am not exempt from rocky road fandom. NABISCO put out ROCKY ROAD TRIP OREO cookies this year to attempt capturing the hearts of rocky road lovers. Of course I got my hands on a box in the hopes of not being let down. Right away let me warn you that if you have a soy allergy stay away from these OREO cookies as they have soy nuts in them. The OREO biscuits are the chocolate variety and they have a lot of white spots embedded on them that are supposedly marshmallow bits. These OREO cookies have a strong vanilla / marshmallow scent to them. The thick chocolate cream in the middle had some small specks in it but not as many as portrayed on the packaging. The cream smells a lot of vanilla and cocoa. The cream was very chocolatey in flavour and had crunchy little bits and pieces in it. I believe the crunchy bits and pieces were the soy nut inclusions emulating nuts in a rocky road ice cream. The OREO biscuit on its own are crunchier than the regular chocolate OREO biscuits and they are very chocolatey in flavour. I didn’t get much of a marshmallow flavour from the biscuits , even though there was a lot of marshmallow bits embedded in them. The ROCKY ROAD TRIP OREO as a whole was very chocolatey with bit of a chewy marshmallow texture in the bits. The vanilla / marshmallow flavour showed up as faint aftertaste . The crunchy bits and pieces in the cream didn’t show up as much when I had the whole cookie, but the cookie overall was a more crunchy and crispy OREO cookie. In my opinion the ROCKY ROAD TRIP OREO was more of an improved CHOCOLATE CREME OREO than a whole separate OREO of its own.
