iOS 11 running on iPhone 5s
I have an iPhone 5s and since iOS 11 was officially released by apple yesterday I decided to risk it and upgrade. My phone is around 4 years old and I wasn’t sure what features would work and if there would be any issues with iOS 11 on it. There are some cosmetic changes and some major changes. One cosmetic change I noticed right away was how the signal dots at the top left of the screen changed to signal bars at the top left of the screen. The Notification Centre for the most part is the same and not changed. The Control Centre looks cosmetically drastically different and has some major functional changes. Most of the Control Centre icons and squares have a hidden functionality or menu if you touch and hold them ( kinda like 3D touch even thought iPhone 5s doesn’t have 3D touch ). The flash light icon if you touch and hold it from the Control Centre gives you anew interface in which you can change the intensity of the light !!! I love that !!! This is a device that is almost 4 years old and this feature actually works on it !!! The App Store has some drastic changes both cosmetically and functionality wise. Looks a lot more modern and up to date. Now when you tap to buy a paid app it gives you a conformation sheet that asks you to buy with Touch ID. There is a TV App added now more geared towards Apple TV users and also for streaming apps. Its basically a tv guide for your streaming shows. Siri has also been updated and I was under the impression that it was supposed to have a more natural sounding voice? To me the Siri voice hasn’t changed much. Overall performance of iOS 11 on iPhone 5s has been a good one. One thing I couldn’t figure out was the purpose of a circular light era button at the bottom left corner of the FaceTime screen when I was on a call with her. I tried pushing it several times and it never did anything.
